Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has proudly highlighted the GFA’s achievement in maintaining consistent scheduling across the nation's football leagues, despite the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
As he enters his fifth year in office, Okraku reflects on the uninterrupted progress of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) and the Women’s Premier League (WPL) since the initial disruptions of the pandemic.
Under his leadership, both leagues have successfully crowned four champions with no interruptions, a feat seen as a significant accomplishment for the GFA.
In a recent interview on Asempa FM, Okraku emphasized the importance of this consistency.
“One thing that we should be proud of as an FA is the fact that we have been very consistent in our programming. We have kept all our leagues on schedule,” he stated.
Okraku noted that, over the course of four and a half to five seasons, all leagues have started and concluded as planned.
This achievement, he explained, is a testament to the collaborative effort of various stakeholders within the football ecosystem, including club owners, executives, and chairmen from the GPL, Division One League (DOL), and WPL.
“This is a big plus for our football and it's a big plus for everybody who has worked in the football ecosystem because it’s taken a collective effort by our club owners, our club executives, our chairmen, from the GPL, from the DOL, from the WPL to work together in sync with the right levels of performance,” Okraku added.
The 2024/25 Ghana Premier League is set to commence in September, continuing the tradition of consistent and well-managed football competitions in Ghana.
