The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has charged Asante Kotoko assistant coach David Ocloo for his comments regarding match officials following the team's 1-0 defeat to Heart of Lions in Kpando.

Ocloo's remarks were found to be in violation of Section 34(6)(d) of the GFA Premier League Regulations, 2019.

This section stipulates that any post-match comments about match officials that could be considered misconduct and bring the game into disrepute are prohibited.

In his post-match interview, Ocloo expressed frustration with the refereeing decisions, stating, "I wouldn't want to talk about the referee, but we all saw what happened. I think if we want our football to progress, our referees need to step up."

The GFA has deemed these comments unfair and detrimental to the integrity of the game. Ocloo has until Wednesday, February 28, 2024, to respond to the charge.

The GFA emphasized the importance of fair play and respectful dialogue regarding match officials.

The organization reiterated that any perceived misconduct will be subject to regulatory action.

This incident underscores the importance of coaches and players being mindful of their comments and refraining from criticizing match officials, even when disagreements arise.
