Former Ghana referee Thomas Nunoo says the Ghana Football Association must liaise with the relevant state agencies to prosecute unscrupulous persons involved in match fixing in the Ghanaian leagues.

According to the former referee this will only stop if the GFA prosecute some persons fingered to serve as a deterrent to others.

"In our part of the world, when things happen, we don't set an example for people to see how serious it is."

"The GFA should corporate with the security agencies and start jailing anyone who is found indulging in football betting," Rtd Ref. Thomas Nunoo told OTEC FM.
Ashgold  were fingered  in match  fixing allegation  on the last day of  the 2020/2021  season  when they defeated then  relegated Inter Allies 7-0.

After the match, Inter Allies defender Hashmin Musah alleged that before the game they heard that the score line will be 5-0 against his side score he scored two bizarre own goals to foil their agreed score line.

The Ghana Premier League has been fraught with allegations of match fixing and match manipulation in times past and also presently.

The GFA seemingly has adopted  a lackluster approach to resolving the issue as last season's game involving  Ashgold and Inter Allies which was marred with match fixing allegations has still not been resolved by the GFA.
