The Ghana Football Association has reached an agreement on how to settle the mountain of debt owed the Referees Association Ghana (RAG).

In a meeting at the GFA headquarters on Thursday,the leadership of the Ghana FA has promised to stagger the payments of monies owed referees for years now.

According to the president of the Referees Association Ghana(RAG),Mr Joe Debrah, they have been promised that a first tranche of GH 30,000 will be paid before the start of the current season before the second tranche is part at the end of the yet to begin season.

With the last tranche being paid the following year which is in 2021.

"The leadership of RAG met the GFA President and some executive Council members yesterday. I personally asked Mr Kurt Okraku during one of his campaign tour on how he will settle the debt owed the referees by the erstwhile administration and he promised to give a payment plan to pay us." he told Kumasi Fm.

"In the meeting yesterday,he has honoured his promise by drawing a payment plan together with us for the next two years."

"GHC30,000 will be paid before the commencement of the league and an additional GHC30,000 after the league. The remaining amount will be paid the following year."

It was also agreed that an allowance will be paid the referees while kits will also be given to the referees for the upcoming season.

"On the allowances for the referees in the upcoming season,it was agreed that GHC950 will be paid excluding accommodation and transportation but GHC550 will be paid if accommodation and transportation will be catered for by the GFA. The allowances will be paid on monthly bases."

"Two kits will be given to each referee with the premier league referees getting electronic gadgets. A total of one hundred and twenty(120) referees will be used for both the premier and division one league. The FA wanted forty(40) for the two divisions but we pleaded we used the earlier figure and slash the number going forward. I will entreat every referee to give his best on lose his spot." he added.
