It appears  long time Ghana 'rebel' Salisu Mohammed is finally heading to the Black Stars after meeting Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku on Saturday.

The Southampton center back has over the years declined call ups to play for Ghana saying he is not yet ready to play for his nation.

He was expected to feature for Ghana against Nigeria in the 2022 World Cup play offs after he held positive talks with interim coach Otto Addo about playing for Ghana but did not show up in the  list.

In May, Salisu held positive talks with the GFA President in England about playing for Ghana but he was not definite on the date but after the latest meeting with the player, his dad and the GFA boss, it appears a truce has been reached.

"Great seeing you with that big smile...Proud son of the land who is proud to give back what football has given him...Ready to serve and looking forward to our common future with all the positive energy in you. God bless our homeland Ghana and make our nation great and strong," Okraku wrote on Facebook.

The Southampton defender has been on a self imposed exile from the national team as he says he is not yet ready to play for the country of his birth.

Salisu Mohammed has been in fine form since joining the South Coast club from Spanish side Real Valladolid two seasons ago.

Salisu made 31 appearances in the English Premier League and two in the EFL Cup, where he scored against Sheffield United, his first and only goal for the club.
