Shenzhen FC midfielder Mubarak Wakaso was among a squad of 30 players who were handed call ups to play for the Black Stars in two friendly matches in June.

The call up was done in May with Ghana to play two high profile friendly matches against Morocco in Rabat on June 8 and then against neighbours Ivory Coast on Saturday May 12.

Wakaso failed to make the trip to Ghana and will also not be present when Ghana take on Ivory Coast on Saturday at the Cape Coast Stadium.

According to the Ghana Football Association COVID-19 travel complications made it difficult for the former Alaves player to make the trip for the friendlies.

As the player is required to undergo mandatory 14 day quarantine if he should make the trip to Ghana for the friendly matches.

"Wakaso couldn’t make the trip due to COVID-19 complications. He would be required to undergo mandatory 14-day quarantine upon his return from Accra – hence the decision to leave him out of the squad for now." the GFA announced.
