The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that its Executive Council will determine the future of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.

This follows the national team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), marking the first time in 21 years that Ghana will miss the continental tournament.

Under Otto Addo’s leadership, the Black Stars endured a winless qualification campaign, finishing bottom of Group F with just three points after three draws and three losses.

The group, which included Niger, Sudan, and Angola, proved too challenging for Ghana, leading to calls for Addo's dismissal.

However, the decision over his tenure remains a divisive issue.

In a statement released on November 21, the GFA confirmed that Addo would meet with the Executive Council to present a technical report on the qualifiers and review the overall performance of the team since his appointment in March 2024.

"The Executive Council will meet the Head Coach of the Black Stars, Mr Otto Addo, on the 27th of November, 2024, to discuss his Technical report on the just-ended AFCON qualifiers and the overall performance of the Technical team since assuming duty earlier this year."

Addo, who succeeded Chris Hughton, signed a 34-month contract with an optional two-year extension.

As discussions about the team’s future unfold, the Black Stars must now turn their attention to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, with crucial matches against Chad and Madagascar scheduled for March 2025.
