The Ghana Football Association's (GFA) Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, has disclosed that the future of Black Stars coach Otto Addo remains unresolved following Ghana's failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

This marks the first time in two decades that the national team will miss the continental tournament, set to take place in Morocco.

The uncertainty follows a meeting between the GFA’s Executive Council and Otto Addo on November 27, 2024, where the coach presented a detailed technical report addressing the team's disappointing performance.

Despite expectations of a resolution during the meeting, no decision was reached regarding Addo’s role.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Game Plan on November 29, Asante Twum confirmed that discussions about Addo’s future are ongoing, saying, “Otto Addo’s Black Stars future is still undecided.”

He also revealed that further consultations within the GFA and the broader football ecosystem will determine the next steps.

The GFA’s official statement noted that Otto Addo has accepted full responsibility for the Black Stars' failure in the qualifiers, acknowledging the need for improvement in critical areas.

Despite high expectations, Ghana failed to secure a single victory in six matches, finishing at the bottom of Group F with just three points.

The decision on Addo’s tenure comes amidst intense public scrutiny, with many fans and analysts calling for a change in leadership to restore the team’s competitive edge.
