General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Prosper Harrison Addo, says that the GFA's earlier decision to use only the Ghana card as the means for players to register for the 2022/2023 football season has been rescinded.

The GFA had informed clubs that the Ghana card will be the sole document that will be allowed to register their players for the coming season.

It caused a lot of consternation among clubs and players as some players are yet to receive their Ghana card causing the GFA to withdraw their earlier directive.

General Secretary of the GFA says that they had to withdraw that directive after realizing that not everyone has the Ghana card.

“Yes, initially we had communicated to all clubs that the Ghana card will be solely used for player registration before the league commences," he told Starr Sports.

“But we had to put it on hold because most of the people involved in this exercise don’t have their cards ready to use for the whole exercise," he added.

The registration exercise for the league will end on August 15, 2022, which will pave the way for the start of the 2022-2023 Betpawa Ghana Premier League.
