Henry Asante Twum, the spokesperson for the Ghana Football Association, is optimistic that the Black Stars players understand the urgency of securing a victory against Sudan in their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Following a disappointing start to the campaign, which saw Ghana suffer a 1-0 defeat to Angola and settle for a 1-1 draw against Niger, the Black Stars will face Sudan, led by former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah, in a crucial doubleheader.

Asante Twum emphasized that the players, being professionals, are fully aware of the need to win these matches to improve their chances of qualification.

He expressed confidence that the recent performances of the players at their respective clubs will contribute positively to the national team's efforts.

"The performance of our players at their respective clubs will work to our advantage against Sudan," he stated in an interview with Asempa FM.

"This is international football, but we are confident because these are international players, and they understand the situation."

Head coach Otto Addo and his team are determined to secure all six points from the matches, with the first leg taking place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10, and the return leg set for October 14 at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.

The Black Stars are keen to turn their fortunes around and keep their AFCON hopes alive.
