Callum Hudson-Odoi, the Nottingham Forest winger, is facing a decision regarding his international future, as he contemplates whether to represent his birthplace, England, or his ancestral home, Ghana.

The 22-year-old ended his more than a decade-long association with his boyhood club, Chelsea, during the summer transfer window by joining Nottingham Forest.

Hudson-Odoi remains eligible to represent the African side, as FIFA rules stipulate that players can switch international allegiances if they meet certain criteria: the player has made no more than three appearances for their country, all of those appearances came before the age of 21, and none of them were in a major international tournament.

The winger, whose father, Bernard Odoi, played for Hearts of Oak, made an impressive debut for Nottingham Forest by scoring a stunning goal with a curled finish into the top corner to secure a draw against Burnley on Monday night.

When asked about his international future, Hudson-Odoi revealed that he has not yet made a decision and emphasized that Ghana is a tempting option. However, he wants to focus on his club career before making a final choice.

“That decision hasn’t been made yet. I’m still thinking it over,” Hudson-Odoi told The Telegraph in an exclusive interview.

“Ghana is a very good option, but let’s wait and see. Hopefully, once I start playing games here, maybe Gareth [Southgate] or Ghana will come. It’s a nice position to be in, and hopefully, sooner or later, we will know.”
