The Black Stars of Ghana maintained their position on the Coca Cola FIFA World rankings for the month January.

Ghana maintained its 52nd position in the World and its eight position on the African rankings with a sum total points of 1424.

This stagnant position is mainly due to the team being dormant the last few months as they have not been involved in any assignment or friendly game.

Ghana's last competitive games was in November 2020 in the AFCON 2021 qualifiers double header against Sudan where Ghana won 2-0 at home and lost 1-0 in Omdurman-Sudan.

Since then the only competition has taken place is the Championship of African Nations (CHAN) tournament which was held in Cameroon from 16 January 2021 to 7 February 2021 but Ghana failed to qualify.

The African Nations Championship (Chan) was taken into consideration – classified as friendlies – because only players competing in the national championships of the participating countries are eligible to take part.

Winners Morocco moved two places up while runners-up Mali made the most progress climbing three places up. Elsewhere, third-placed Guinea and quarter-finalists Congo moved a place up.

The next Fifa/Coca-Cola World Rankings will be published on 8 April 2021. Before then, the four-time African champions would have taken on South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe in March’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
