Ghana midfielder Sabit Abdulai faces six-month layoff after ACL surgery
5th March 2026
Ghanaian midfielder Sabit Abdulai has successfully undergone surgery after suffering a serious knee injury while playing for Portuguese side F.C. Alverca.
The 26-year-old damaged his left knee during a league match against C.F. Estrela da Amadora on 31 January 2026, with medical examinations later confirming an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
Abdulai has now undergone surgery as he begins a lengthy recovery process that is expected to keep him out of action for between six and seven months.
The midfielder, who previously played for Spanish club Getafe CF, had been an important figure for Alverca before the injury setback.
His absence is likely to be a significant blow for the Portuguese club as he focuses on rehabilitation in the coming months.
Abdulai will now begin the road to recovery, with hopes of returning to full fitness before the end of the year.
