Nations FC hit four past long time relegation battlers, Legon Cities who only hit one back at the visitors in the Matchday 31 fixture. It has been back to back series of victories for the Abrankese outfit after the loss away at Berekum Chelsea on Matchday 29.
The Abrankese boys found the back of the net first after attacker, Emmanuel Annor found midfielder, Kelvin Ampoful who sloted home the opening goal, breaking the deadlock at minute 27.
With five minutes left to go into halftime, Legon Cities pulled parity through Albert Yeboah to take the game into a stalemate going into the break.
In the second half, the visitors piled so much pressure on Legon Cities which rewarded them with the second goal with 5 minutes passing the hour mark; Emnanuel Annor scored his fourth goal of the season for Nations Fc in a grand style.
The game kept rolling on until the 83rd minute where Sadiq Alhassan increased the home side’s deficit by two when he scored the third of the day and again, to hit the nail on the coffin, Kelvin Ampoful scored his second to seal the victory for Nations Fc.
Ampoful rose to the occasion and became the hero of the day as his brace sealed a commanding victory for Nations FC when they thumped relegation-bound Legon Cities FC.
A 4-1 victory was enough to send the Abrankese boys attop the Ghana Premier League standings with 57 points whilst their opponents, Legon Cities tasted relegation for the first time since the new era in 2019.
Legon Cities’ relegation was confirmed mathematically, as permutations confirmed them getting downgraded, finishing the season with just 25 points from 31 games. The club endured a difficult campaign, unable to keep pace with the title contenders on the day.
