Ghana Premier League recap: Gold Stars lead, Kotoko and Medeama secure wins

Gold Stars FC continued their unbeaten run in the Ghana Premier League with a comfortable 2-0 win over Aduana FC at home on Sunday.
Goals from Ronald Frimpong and Samuel Atta Kumi secured the victory at Duns Park, maintaining their position at the top of the table with 15 points from seven matches.
Frimpong opened the scoring in the 6th minute, and Atta Kumi sealed the win in the 73rd minute, keeping Gold Stars one point clear at the summit.
Berekum Chelsea 3-1 Legon Cities
Berekum Chelsea handed Legon Cities another disappointing defeat with a 3-1 win at the Golden City Park.
Emmanuel Sarpong struck first for Chelsea in the 15th minute, but Legon Cities responded quickly with an equalizer from Suraj Yusif Kamal just two minutes later.
However, second-half goals from Stephen Amankona and Hubert Gyau sealed a comfortable victory for the home side.
Legon Cities remain winless and rooted at the bottom of the table after seven matches.
Asante Kotoko 1-0 FC Samartex
Asante Kotoko extended their unbeaten run with a 1-0 victory over defending champions FC Samartex 1996 at the Len Clay Stadium.
Albert Amoah scored the match-winning goal in the second half, continuing his fine form for the Porcupine Warriors.
With this win, Kotoko sits second on the table with 14 points, just one behind leaders Gold Stars FC, and they have a game in hand.
Karela United 1-0 Heart of Lions
Karela United secured a narrow 1-0 win over Heart of Lions at the Tamale Sports Stadium, thanks to Abdul Latif’s 82nd-minute goal.
The win ended Heart of Lions' four-match unbeaten run and marked Karela’s first victory in Tamale. Both teams are now tied on 8 points each in mid-table.
Vision FC 1-1 Bechem United
Vision FC was denied a late win after Kofi Tompuo’s 89th-minute equalizer for Bechem United, resulting in a 1-1 draw.
Edmond Asante had given Vision FC the lead in the 85th minute, but Bechem United snatched a point on the road, leaving Vision FC disappointed at home.
Nsoatreman FC 2-0 Basake Holy Stars
Nsoatreman FC continued their solid home form with a 2-0 win over Basake Holy Stars. Collins Kofi Kudjoe opened the scoring just one minute into the match, and Mohammed Abdul Rahman added a second in the 25th minute.
Nsoatreman FC moves into mid-table, while the newly promoted Basake Holy Stars sit 13th after seven matches.
Dreams FC 0-0 Hearts of Oak
Dreams FC's tough start to the season persisted as they played out a 0-0 draw with Hearts of Oak at the Tuba Astro Turf.
Dreams remain winless and are entrenched in the relegation battle, sitting 17th on the table, while Hearts of Oak are in mid-table after another frustrating result.
Medeama SC 1-0 Nations FC
Medeama SC ended Nations FC's unbeaten run with a 1-0 win at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa. Osah Bernandinho Tetteh's 14th-minute goal was enough to secure the victory for Medeama.
This win provided much-needed relief for coach Nebojsa Kapor, after previous home setbacks. Despite the loss, Nations FC remains among the league's top contenders.
This weekend's action left Gold Stars at the top, while Kotoko remains in close pursuit, and Legon Cities' struggles deepened as the Premier League continues to heat up.
