Former Black Stars striker Anthony Yeboah has revealed that Ghana first snubbed his nephew Kelvin Yeboah when he was an unknown quantity.

He says when the player was not at his peak and was unknown he recommended him to the powers that be at the GFA about a juvenile national team call up but Ghana snubbed his advise.

This follows the player's decision to play for the Italian U-21 side instead of a senior national team call up for Ghana.

The youngster was handed a Black Stars call up for the matches against Ethiopia and South Africa last year in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers but snubbed Ghana instead choosing to play for the Italy U-21 side instead of the senior national team.

Yeboah has been in great form for his Austrian side Sturm Graz catching the attention of the handlers of the Ghana national team but he turned down the invitation saying that he prefers to play for Italy where he was raised despite being born in Accra.

At the time the youngster said that playing for Italy was a dream if even its the junior side than playing for Ghana.

Speaking on Onua TV, the former Leeds United striker revealed that Ghana had the chance to pick his nephew when he was a rough diamond for the junior national team but we snubbed the young chap.

“At the time Kelvin wasn’t at his peak, I recommended him for the juvenile national teams but no one picked him. I talk to him, definitely I would prefer him playing for Ghana instead of Italy at the senior level” he said.
