Former President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated the significance of his 24-hour policy, warning of the potential setbacks Ghana could face if the initiative is discontinued.
Speaking at a public forum in Accra, Mahama emphasized that the policy, introduced during his tenure, has been instrumental in enhancing efficiency and service delivery across critical sectors of the economy.
The 24-hour policy, aimed at expediting administrative processes, especially in ports, government offices, and service centers, has significantly reduced delays, curbed corruption, and improved productivity.
According to Mahama, its cancellation could reverse these gains, hampering economic progress and inconveniencing citizens who rely on faster service delivery.
“The 24-hour policy is not just about speed; it is about accountability and modernization. Its cancellation will affect businesses, delay transactions, and hurt the economy,” he stated.
Mahama criticized attempts to dismantle the policy, urging policymakers to prioritize national development over political interests.
He further called on stakeholders to advocate for its continuation, emphasizing that Ghana’s global competitiveness depends on sustaining such transformative initiatives.
As the 2024 elections approach, Mahama reaffirmed his commitment to expanding and enhancing the policy if given the mandate, ensuring it remains a cornerstone of Ghana's progress.
