Ghana's Black Stars will now face Sudan at the Cape Coast Stadium in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers next month, following initial reports suggesting they might play outside the country.

The confirmation comes after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) approved the stadium following an inspection last weekend.

This development follows concerns over the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, the Black Stars' preferred home venue for over two years, which was deemed below CAF standards.

The rejection of the Baba Yara Stadium sparked discussions about the possibility of Ghana playing their home matches abroad.

However, CAF's approval of the Cape Coast Stadium has allowed the Black Stars to remain in Ghana for their next crucial match.

CAF’s inspection team also assessed the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra but ultimately approved the Cape Coast venue, marking Ghana's return to the Central Region's capital for the first time since their 3-0 victory over Madagascar in June 2022 during a previous AFCON qualifier.

Ghana will host Sudan in the first leg of the qualifier on Friday, October 11, before traveling for the return fixture three days later.

The four-time African champions are determined to secure a strong result as they aim to qualify for the 2025 AFCON tournament.
