The Ghana Football Association(GFA) will today submit the Accra Sports Stadium and the Cape Coast Stadium as their home venue to CAF for use by the Black Stars ahead of the upcoming 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

The Black Stars have been paired in group E alongside Angola, Madagascar and Central African Republic.

CAF has removed the Baba Yara Sports Stadium from hosting international matches or category A games, the Ghana Football Association has announced.

The stadium was given a one-match approval to host the 2022 World Cup playoff against Nigeria last month.

GFA Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum speaking in an interview, indicated the Baba Yara Sports Stadium can be approved to host international matches if the 19 conditions set by CAF are met.

“The Baba Yara Stadium is completely out for consideration to host any of Ghana’s AFCON qualifications unless the 19 requirements made by CAF’s inspection team have been fully completed”.

Ghana is likely to play their home matches for the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers at either the Accra Sports Stadium or Cape Coast Stadium when it starts in June as the Baba Yara Stadium has been rejected by CAF.

Match Days 1 and 2 are scheduled for May 30-June14, 2022, according to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Two qualifying matches will be played between May and June, with Match Days 3 and 4 scheduled for September 19–27, 2022.

The final round of matches has been scheduled for March 20-28, 2023.

The top two teams from each Group, including hosts Ivory Coast, will compete in the biennial tournament, which will take place from June 23 to July 23, 2023.
