Former Togo captain, Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor says that the Qatar 2022 World Cup play off clash between Ghana and Nigeria will be a very difficult tie.

The two teams will clash in March this year with the winner heading for the World Cup in Qatar.

Nigeria appeared the most in form team at the African Cup of Nations but unfortunately they were just champions of the group stages where they won all three matches but the trophy is not given at that stage as they crashed out against Tunisia who qualified to the round of 16 as one of the best third place teams with just three points.

Ghana on the other hand exited the tournament after finishing bottom of their group that comprised Comoros, Gabon and Morocco.

Emmanuel Adebayor who conducted the draw with El Hadji Diouf believes Ghana's clash with eternal foes Nigeria will be a difficult contest.

“I wish them all the luck. I just want to remind them one thing that they are going out there to represent the continent,” the 2008 African Footballer of the Year said.

“All the games will be difficult. I see Nigeria against Ghana too, it is not a derby but it is going to be very difficult because there are a lot of Ghanaians in Nigeria and Nigerians in Ghana.”

The last time the Super Eagles faced Ghana in a competitive fixture was at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations and the Black Stars came out victorious in Angola, courtesy of a lone goal from Asamoah Gyan.

“I'm looking forward to seeing whoever is going to qualify and I wish all the 10 teams the best.”

Ghana will host Nigeria on the 23rd March this year before playing the return leg in Nigeria on the 29th March, 2022.
