Ghanaian defender Wahab Ackwei has expressed his excitement after officially signing for the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC in preparation for the upcoming 2024 USL Championship season.

The completion of the deal is still pending approval from both the league and the federation.

His notable achievements include recognition in the 2022 Championship All-League Second Team, with 56 appearances and instrumental involvement in Rio Grande Valley FC's journey to the USL Championship Playoffs.

Ackwei's versatility is evident from his 72 championship appearances throughout his career.

His previous stints include playing for New York Red Bulls II and Loudoun United FC. With four goals, five assists, a duel success rate of 60.3%, and an impressive tackle success rate of 63.9%, Ackwei brings a wealth of experience and skills to the Switchbacks.
