Four Ghanaian officials are participating in a groundbreaking VAR (Video Assistant Referee) course organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

This course marks the first VAR training session organized by CAF for its zones, with the WAFU B zone leading the initiative.

The Ghanaian delegation includes two experienced FIFA referees, Rita Ama Nkansah Boateng and Julian Nii Akwa Nunoo, as well as two esteemed instructors: Emmanuella Aglago, a CAF-trained VAR instructor, and Alex Kotey, CAF Technical Instructor and head of referees at the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The training aims to elevate the standard of refereeing in the region by equipping officials with the latest VAR techniques and practices.

This initiative is part of CAF's broader effort to standardize and improve officiating standards across Africa.

Ghana’s involvement underscores the country’s commitment to advancing football officiating and highlights its active role in shaping the future of African football.

As the WAFU B zone pioneers this crucial training, it sets a benchmark for other zones to follow, contributing to a more consistent and reliable officiating framework across CAF competitions.
