Alidu Seidu, who emerged as one of the revelations of Ligue 1 last season while playing for Clermont Foot, is drawing attention from several clubs this summer.

The 23-year-old Ghanaian international impressed in his first full season as a starter for Clermont, catching the eye of Lille.

According to reports from La Voix du Nord, Lille is eager to bring Seidu to the north of France and is closely monitoring the talented centre-back.

With José Fonte leaving the club and Tiago Djaló still recovering from an ACL injury, Seidu would be a valuable addition to compete for a starting position alongside youngster Leny Yoro and new signing Samuel Umtiti.

Seidu's performances in Ligue 1 led to his first call-up for the Ghanaian national team in June 2022, following which he made his debut in a friendly against Japan.

Despite Ghana's 4-1 loss in that match, he went on to make his competitive debut in the World Cup held in Qatar. Seidu started as a right-back in games against Portugal and Uruguay, although the Black Stars' campaign ended in disappointment as they were eliminated in the group stage.

Back with his teammates in Auvergne, Seidu has consistently been one of the standout performers under the guidance of coach Pascal Gastien.

His defensive abilities, particularly as a tackler and in intelligent positioning, have been notable, and he ranks among the league's best in terms of interceptions.

Moreover, under Gastien's coaching approach, Seidu has shown impressive development in his ball skills, excelling in take-ons, progressive carries, and progressive passes received.

This growth in his playing style makes him a potential good fit for Lille's possession-based approach under coach Paulo Fonseca.

As the transfer window progresses, the competition for the talented Alidu Seidu's signature is expected to intensify, with Lille among the clubs vying for his services in the French top flight.
