Ghana's Black Maidens beat Nigeria in thrilling WAFU Zone B U-17 Girls Cup final

Ghana's Black Maidens defeated Nigeria's Super Flamingos in a dramatic final to win the inaugural WAFU Zone B U-17 Girls Cup at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
The match lived up to expectations, with both teams playing at a high intensity from the start. Ghana seized the initiative early, with a corner kick leading to the opening goal in the 13th minute.
Getrude Amoafoa, a standout player from Kumasi Sports Academy, scored to give the Maidens a 1-0 lead.
Just five minutes later, Priscilla Mensah of Sissamba Ladies doubled Ghana’s lead, scoring in the 18th minute to make it 2-0. Despite the setback, Nigeria continued to push forward, showing resilience throughout the match.
The Super Flamingos came out strong in the second half, and in the 53rd minute, Precious Chiemerie Oscar found the back of the net to reduce Ghana’s lead to 2-1.
Nigeria continued to apply pressure, and in the 78th minute, Chidera Harmony Chidi equalized with a well-taken finish, bringing the game to 2-2.
With no winner found in regulation time, the match went into a penalty shootout. After a tense shootout, Ghana triumphed 5-4, clinching the WAFU Zone B U-17 Girls Cup.
The Black Maidens celebrated their hard-earned victory, while Nigeria showed great sportsmanship despite the defeat.
This victory marked a historic achievement for Ghana as they claimed the title in the inaugural edition of the competition.
