Swiss coach Nora Hauptle is set to sign a two-year contract with the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), leaving her role as head coach of Ghana's Black Queens.
Hauptle, who guided Ghana to significant achievements during her tenure, turned down a contract extension offer from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to take on a new challenge with the Copper Queens of Zambia.
She is expected to be unveiled by FAZ next week.
The 41-year-old tactician was appointed head coach of the Black Queens in 2023 after the dismissal of Mercy Tagoe.
Before her role with the senior team, Hauptle served as the technical advisor for the Ghana U20 women’s national team, the Black Princesses, during the 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
During her time with the Black Queens, Hauptle achieved remarkable success, including:
- Qualifying Ghana for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
- Winning the 2023 WAFU Zone B Women’s Cup.
Hauptle’s move to Zambia comes after the FAZ parted ways with Bruce Mwape. She is expected to bring her wealth of experience and success to the Copper Queens as they look to build on their recent progress in women’s football.
