It does appear that the Ghana FA is about to announce a new sponsorship deal for the Ghana Premier league (GhPL) with one of the nation’s leading brands Zylofon media.

This will be a big relief to Ghana FA Boss Kwesi Nyantakyi as he has been severely criticized by the mass media for his failure to bring sponsors on board as the Ghanaian topflight has gone three season without a major sponsor since First Capital Plus bank pulled out.

The C.E.O of MenzGold and Zylofon media Nana Appiah Mensah who is also the owner of Division One League side Star Madrid declared to use his outfit to sponsor the sponsorless GhPl when he visited Ghana U20 and U17 team at  Prampram.

"Nana Appiah Mensah says I should inform you that Zylofon Media will be sponsoring the Ghana Premier League," spokesman of the business mogul said.

We are just days away and hopefully this leads to more Ghanaian businesses joining in. With our economy in dire straits, now more than ever is when we must support our own. It is simple commonsense.

Supporting the GhPL creates much needed jobs and employment for Ghana.
The more jobs and wealth there is, the better the businesses in this country perform.

As simple as this business logic is, it is mindboggling how many of our business moguls do not get it. We pump our dwindling resources into promoting European football to Ghanaians who have no jobs or are losing their jobs and have no fallback options.

This only creates jobs overseas while our economy dies a slow death.  Backing the GHPL is investing in your own business. Hopefully more of our businesses get it.

Henceforth te Ghana Premier League could soon be called the MenzGold or Zylofon Premier League.
