Gideon Fosu, an Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has been named as the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee for the WAFU U-17 Cup of Nations, slated to be held in Accra in 2024.

Fosu, who also serves as the Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Kings Palace FC in the Division One League, brings a wealth of experience and leadership to his new role.

Additionally, he holds a pivotal position as the head of the Centralized Operations Unit (payment) at the Ghana Commercial Bank, further highlighting his capacity for organizational management.

Assisting Fosu in his duties will be Robert Duncan, Chairman of the Central Regional Football Association, who assumes the role of Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee.

Their collaboration promises to ensure effective planning and execution of the tournament.

The committee includes other notable members such as Paul Ayamba, Business Development Officer of Premier League side FC Samartex, Leslie Kuuku Bartels, President of Division One League side Victory Club Warriors, and Nana Asante Bismark of Wamanafo Mighty Royals.

Together, they will contribute their expertise and insights to develop comprehensive plans and programs for the successful staging of the tournament.

Scheduled to take place in Accra from May 15 to May 29, 2024, the WAFU U-17 Cup of Nations will feature seven participating countries: Cote D’Ivoire, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Togo, Niger, Benin, and host nation Ghana.

The top three teams from the tournament will earn qualification for the following year's Total Energies U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, adding significance to the competition.
