Accra Hearts of Oak's midfielder, Gladson Awako, has made a welcome return to training as the team gears up for their upcoming match against Medeama SC.
The former Great Olympics captain's presence during first-team training on Wednesday has raised hopes that he will be fit and available for selection in David Ocloo's squad for the forthcoming Ghana Premier League game.
Awako sustained an injury during their previous match against FC Samartex at Samreboi, which led to his substitution after 31 minutes.
Gideon Asante replaced him and went on to score Hearts' opening goal against the Timber Boys.
This injury setback occurred just a few weeks after Awako had returned from a nearly two-month-long injury layoff. Unfortunately, the 32-year-old midfielder has endured a challenging campaign thus far, missing more than half of Hearts of Oak's Premier League games this season and making only 11 appearances on the field.
Consistency has been elusive for Awako since Ghana's exit from the African Nations Championship tournament in Algeria earlier this year.
Despite these setbacks, the determined midfielder is now focused on regaining full fitness and making a significant contribution to his team.
Currently sitting sixth in the league, Accra Hearts of Oak are eager to bounce back from their recent 3-2 defeat against FC Samartex.
The upcoming clash against Medeama SC presents a crucial opportunity for Hearts to secure a vital victory and improve their position in the league standings.
With Awako's potential return to the team, the Phobians will be further motivated to put in a strong performance and claim all three points.
