Goat, sheep prices stable amid festive season – Sunyani traders
25th December 2025
Livestock sellers in Sunyani, the Bono Regional capital, say prices of goats and sheep remain negotiable this Christmas season and have encouraged the public not to be intimidated by the price tags on the animals.
A visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) to the Sunyani livestock market on Tuesday revealed that goats and sheep were selling for between GH¢950 and GH¢1,100, depending on the size of the animal.
Despite the flexible pricing, traders expressed concern about the current low patronage, noting that sales have been slow compared to the same period last year. They, however, remained optimistic that demand would increase as the Christmas festivities draw closer.
One goat seller, Solomon Kwoyiga, attributed the poor sales partly to pricing concerns among customers but said interest in the animals was gradually building.
“Many customers have been enquiring about the prices of my animals, and I am hopeful that sales will improve as we approach Christmas Eve,” he said.
Another trader, Francis Nyaaba, who sells sheep, observed that demand for goats was relatively higher than for sheep at the market.
The traders expressed hope that the festive season would bring improved sales and help make up for the current slowdown.
