Google Pixel 3 and Apple iPhone XS are supposed to be the best representations of how Android and iOS devices should be. If you remember, Google, while introducing the Pixel smartphones last year, showcased its ‘Night Sight’ camera capabilities and compared the results with that of an image shot by an iPhone XS. While that was a subtle jab at the iPhone maker, the company’s vice president of product marketing has once again flaunted the ‘Night Sight’ camera tech of Pixel 3 smartphones, comparing it against the same image shot using the iPhone XS.

Marvin Chow, the VP product marketing at Google posted an image on Twitter over the weekend showing two shots side by side clicked using the Pixel 3 and
iPhone XS. While the one clicked by the iPhone XS showed the person in the image in complete darkness (almost) while the Pixel 3’s Night Sight shot shows the model in full light. The text in the post states “Night Sight on
Google Pixel 3 - pretty much speaks for itself.”

Google’s ‘Night Sight’ camera tech in Pixel smartphones, has received appreciations from most critics around the globe. We too have talked about the low-light camera shooting tech at length in our Pixel 3XL review. The tech uses a set of camera tech to bring a well-lit shot at night. This includes Positive Shutter Lag, Motion Metering and much more. The company’s computational camera tech is the reason why ‘Night Sight’ is possible.

Apple iPhone XS, however, doesn’t make use of such tech and is not able to deliver as bright shots as the Pixel 3/3XL.

Pixel 3 and 3XL feature a 12.2MP autofocus dual-pixel sensor with 1.4um pixel size, OIS, EIS and f/1.8 aperture. The iPhone XS sports dual 12MP sensors with f/1.8 aperture and f/2.4 aperture (for telephoto) and OIS.
