A member of the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) Communications team, Kwabena Berma Pobi says General Secretary of the main opposition NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah’s comments over legalization of same-sex marriage is indicative of the fact that he wants to push pro-homosexual interests.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia is alleging the Akufo-Addo administration has plans to legalise same-sex marriage in Ghana.

The issue of homosexuality has lately gained currency, with UK Prime Minister Theresa May urging developing countries to legalize the practice.

Speaking at the NDC’s Unity walk in Kumasi Saturday, Mr Asiedu Nketia claimed president Akufo-Addo’s administration has planned to entrench the practice irrespective of the fact that the majority of Ghanaians frowns upon.

Commenting on the claims by the General Scribe of the main opposition NDC, Berma Pobi said it’s disgraceful that Mr. Asiedu Nketiah will make such false public comment on homosexuality against the President.

According to him, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah would be disappointed since President Akufo-Addo “has no intention of materializing his (Asiedu Nketia’s) lifelong dream; The laws of the land will soon catch up with him over his evil deals.”

He questioned: “When did President Akufo-Addo approve homosexuality and lesbianism in Ghana that Asiedu Nketia gleefully sought to portray? Let Asiedu Nketia be told that it’s never our culture.  If Asiedu Nketia has immersed himself into homosexuality, he should not try to rope President Akufo-Addo into the matter! His utterances at their so-called Unity walk in Kumasi are indicative of the fact that he is neck deep in homosexuality and is therefore seeking for its legalization.”
