The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has announced an increment in transportation fares by 10 percent starting from Monday, September 16, 2019.

The transportation regulatory body explaining the basis for the increment said the various components that go into the running of commercial transport services in the country have gone up.

A statement released by the union says effective September 16, public transport fares will go up by 10 per cent covering intra-city transportation known as Trotro, intercity or long-distance trips and shared taxis.

Transportation fares were last increased in January 2018.
