The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has announced a new initiative designed to simplify tax filing for micro and small businesses nationwide.

According to Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, Acting Commissioner-General of the GRA, the initiative seeks to enhance tax compliance, promote inclusivity, and support small businesses in navigating the tax system with ease.

Speaking to Joy Business on June 21, 2025, following a meeting with executives and selected members of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) in Accra, Mr. Sarpong reaffirmed the GRA’s commitment to collaborative governance and taxpayer education.

He revealed that the GRA will soon introduce a quarterly stakeholder engagement platform for continuous dialogue with members of the business community—acknowledging their vital contribution to the country’s revenue mobilisation efforts.

“As tax administrators, our core duty is to mobilise revenue for national development. We consider businesses our strategic partners in achieving this goal,” Mr. Sarpong stated.

The new initiative is part of a broader strategy to broaden the tax net, enhance domestic revenue collection, and close existing gaps within the tax system—particularly among the informal sector and smaller enterprises.

The GRA’s latest move underscores its push for a more efficient, transparent, and inclusive tax administration system that benefits both the government and the business community.
