Captain for Ghana Premier League champions Accra Hearts of Oak has extended his contract which was close to expiry by two seasons.

Hearts of Oak made an official announcement on the last day of the year 2021 that their club captain has extended his stay at the club.

An official statement from the club read: “The Management of Accra Hearts of Oak is delighted to announce that our first team captain, Fatawu Mohammed has signed a 2-year contract extension at the club which will run till 2023.”

The club captain was edging close to the end of his contract but the club have managed to make him extend his deal.

Fatawu Mohammed, 29, is one of the longest serving players currently at Hearts of Oak and helped them end their more than a decade long trophy drought with the league and FA Cup last season.

He joined Hearts of Oak in 2013 from Real Tamale United.
