Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has responded assertively to critics, asserting his autonomy in selecting players for the team.
Following his side's 2-0 victory over Bechem United on Sunday at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, the Ivorian manager addressed concerns raised by fans and pundits alike during the post-match press conference.
Ouattara emphasized the importance of unity among all stakeholders of Hearts of Oak while making it clear that he welcomes constructive criticism but will ultimately choose the players he believes are best suited for the team.
"I am a democrat. When you criticize me and it’s not an insult, I take some of it (criticism)," he stated.
He further elaborated, "The way you have a free hand to criticize is the same I have a free hand to put the player I like in the team."
This declaration underscores his commitment to making decisions based on his judgment as a coach, despite the pressure from outside influences.
Hearts of Oak began the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season with two consecutive losses against Berekum Holy Stars and Heart of Lions.
With the recent win against Bechem United, the Rainbow Club aims to build on this momentum as they prepare to face Nations FC in Matchday four at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
The upcoming match represents an opportunity for Hearts of Oak to solidify their performance and secure valuable points in the league.
