Hearts of Oak coach Aboubakar Ouattara has expressed skepticism regarding the Phobians' chances of clinching the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League title.

Nevertheless, he remains optimistic about his ability to effect positive change, emphasizing that there is no necessity to establish a new foundation at the club.

Ouattara, who assumed leadership midway through the season, initially enjoyed a promising start, maintaining an unbeaten record in his first five matches.

However, recent setbacks, including a 1-0 defeat at home to GoldStars, marked his first home loss in seven games and his second consecutive defeat.

In the aftermath of the disappointing result, Ouattara emphasized his belief in the team's existing foundation.

"For me, I think this team, we can do it. Not for the league, but we are trying to build. I am not rebuilding the team," he stated.

"I am not there to make a new foundation. I’m trying to bring this team at a portable level with the materials I have."

Currently occupying the tenth position on the league table with 32 points, the Phobians lag behind leaders Samartex by 13 points after 24 games.

Hearts of Oak are currently playing against champions Medeama in their league fixture at the Akoon Park with the game goalless as at half time.
