Aboubakar Ouattara, head coach of Hearts of Oak, has voiced his opposition to following Asante Kotoko's approach of releasing a large number of players after a disappointing season.

Asante Kotoko recently parted ways with 21 players, but Ouattara believes that such drastic measures are not the solution for Hearts of Oak.

Following a crucial 3-2 victory over Bechem United on the final day of the 2023/24 season, Hearts of Oak narrowly escaped relegation, finishing with 45 points.

Ouattara, who signed a two-and-a-half-year deal midway through the previous season, emphasized his belief that gradual improvement is key rather than wholesale changes.

"You sack 100 players and bring in 200, what are the results?" Ouattara questioned in an interview with SportsObama TV.

"Let's take it step by step. Slow progress gives us a 100% chance to achieve something. Sacking 11, 22, or even 100 players and replacing them all is just wasting money," he added.

Meanwhile, midfielder Ibrahim Salifu has departed the club after failing to renew his contract, leaving a gap in the squad ahead of the upcoming 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

Hearts of Oak are reportedly eyeing former Kotoko midfielder Enoch Morrison and ex-Bechem United forward Augustine Okrah as potential signings to bolster their squad.
