Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo has provided some update on the progress of Phil Ofosu-Ayeh’s injury recovery.

The manager comfirmed Phil is not yet back working with the group after picking up an ankle injury in pre season training which has sidelined him for over three months.

The Ghana international is yet to kick a ball for the Championship side since completing a three-year move from German second tier outfit Eintracht Braunschweig last June and has undergone surgery in September 2017 to rectify the ankle problem.

The gaffer admitted it will take some time to integrate the defender back into the team after his long injury lay off.

“He [Ofosu-Ayeh] is not working with us yet,” Santo told Express & Star.

“He’s still getting better and solving all the problems that he has – he’s not 100 per cent with the group.

“Of course [he is some way off]. We cannot forget that Phil, since the beginning of the season, has been injured, so it will take time to integrate the dynamic of training sessions.”

Born in Moers, Germany, to a German mother and a Ghanaian father, the former VfR Aalen man is a full Ghana international, having featured in a friendly against Canada in 2015.
