The date was October 2013. The Black Stars of Ghana entertained the Pharaohs of Egypt in Ghana in the first leg of the FIFA World Cup play off.

The first leg game was one the Black Stars did not disappoint.

A 6-1 victory that made qualification to the tournament in Brazil almost a certain deal.

Asamoah Gyan started the scoring at the Baba Yara Stadium putting Ghana 1-0 ahead after just four minutes of play.

Egypt player Wael Gomaa scored an own goal to double Ghana’s lead.

Mohamed Abo Trika pulled on back for Egypt who had a glimpse of hope but Abdul Majeed Waris quickly scored to restore Ghana’s two-goal advantage before the first half interval.

Asamoah Gyan doubled his tally to make it 4-1 in Ghana’s favour before Sulley Muntari bagged his share of the goals with Ghana leading 5-1 at this point.

Christian Atsu scored the last goal with a minute to the end of regulation time giving Ghana a huge advantage going into the second leg of the game.
