The police have stepped in to restore order at Wesley Senior High School in Konongo, Ashanti Region, after a group of students reportedly went on a rampage, throwing stones at the residence of the senior housemistress.

The incident occurred after the housemistress allegedly confronted one of the students sitting for this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) for suspected cheating during the Christian Religious Studies (CRS) paper on Friday, September 5.

In an interview, the headmistress, Rev. Agnes Gaisie, shared that after the CRS exam, a male student verbally assaulted the housemistress when she prevented him from cheating. The student was later called in, made to apologise, and was taken through counselling.

However, on the night of Sunday, September 7, the situation escalated when students threw stones at the housemistress' residence. Rev. Gaisie assured that investigations are ongoing to identify the students responsible for the attack.

She added that while the situation had been unsettling, it is now under control, with the police involved, and that the examinations are continuing smoothly.
