NEW DELHI: It was recently reported that Huawei wished Happy New Year to users on Twitter using an iPhone. Now a new report has surfaced online suggesting that the company has taken stern action against the employee for the mistake. As reported by Reuters, the company is now demoting the employees and is also slashing salaries for the blunder caused.

The company Tweeted, "Happy 2019 from all of us at Huawei. Our resolution this new year is to give more reasons to connect to those you care about" and below the tweet is was mentioned via iPhone. This mistake was first spotted by the popular YouTuber MKBHD. However, after realising the mistake, the company was quick to remove the tweet.

Reuters has got hold of a memo, in which the company's president Chen Lifang slammed the employees for their irresponsible behaviour and said, "the incident caused damage to the Huawei brand.” The Huawei memo said, "The mistake occurred when outsourced social media handler Sapient experienced “VPN problems” with a desktop computer so used an iPhone with a roaming SIM card in order to send the message on time at midnight."

As a punishment for the blunder the company had demoted the employees by one rank and has also reduced the monthly salaries by $700 (5,000 yuan). Along with this, the company also mentioned that the 12 months salary of the digital marketing director will be freezed.

This was certainly the bad timing for this blunder and Apple and Huawei are already at war with each other. Recently, Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou was arrested and detained on Canadian jail on the breach of US sanctions on Iran. This sparked a lot of problem between the US-based Apple and Chinese company Huawei. Huawei went ahead and asked all its employees to boycott Apple and stop using iPhones.
