Hundreds of contract workers recruited by Top Holdings to work for the defunct uniBank have gathered at the premises of the recruitment agency demanding explanations into a circular which asked them not to report at their various branches today.

This follows the abrogation of all contracts between Top Recruitment Management Company and the Consolidated Bank of Ghana which is now returning bank for the subsumed uniBank.

The workers who have lost their jobs include security personnel, bank tellers, dispatch riders, drivers and other support staff working for all uniBank branches.

It is estimated that thousands of workers could follow as the company was the major source of uniBank’s outsourced staff.

A security staff told Ultimate News I was working with Top Core Security guarding the Bantama and Kejetia branches of uniBank but we were told on Friday that the contract has been abrogated. This is a major blow to me and my colleagues because we didn’t see this coming.”

An affected uniBank dispatch-rider lamented, “It has affected me a lot because I have a wife and three children. Besides my family, all my brothers and sisters depend on me. uniBank is feeding a lot of families and what is happening is not the best.”

After a short meeting with the workers, the management of TOP HOLDINGS communicated to the workers that they will start receiving termination letters from this week.
