A Deputy National Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Joshua Hamidu Akamba has vowed to mobilise the grassroots of the party to kick the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) out of power in 2020, if he is voted into office as the National Organiser of NDC.

Mr Akamba, who is confident he will be elected on Saturday, November 7, 2018 told Mugabe Maase, host of Inside Politics on Radio XYZ, said he has what it takes to unseat the governing party in the next elections.

“Ever since I started exposing the NPP have you heard their loudmouths speaking all over with lies? Have you heard Sammy Awuku (National Organiser of NPP) speaking all over?” he quizzed.

He stated that he wil be able to work very well in the interest of the party and ensure party resources are used through the right channels towards the victory of the NDC in 2020.

“Party footsoldiers are the owners of the party. They are those who have the power to bring a party to power. They won’t be neglected when I’m in power,” Akamba pledged, saying he has served the party in diverse ways.

He said as a lover of footsoldiers, he listened to a party member and worked towards the unity of the party through the famous ‘Unity Walk’ after they lost the 2016 elections.

“People should know that I have been able to bring an idea that has gingered the party,”he noted and stressed the importance of the Unity Walk to a party in opposition.

Although one of the minds behind the Unity Walk, Mr Kojo Bonsu, a former mayor of Kumasi, has joined the flagbearer race to contest former president John Mahama he (Akamba) does not support Mr Bonsu, stressing his support for Mr Mahama.

“If there is anyone who is working for John Mahama to come back, it is Akamba,” he declared while pleading with delegates to vote for him as the National Organiser of NDC to right the wrongs of the past.

Akamba also appealed to the delegates to vote for former Ghana Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Saeed Sinare, who is vying for the position of a National Vice Chairperson of the NDC.

“Alhaji Sinare is a gift to the NDC. He is competent and has the wisdom to lead the party. He has a vision for the party. Nobody should make a mistake… they should vote for Alhaji Sinare,” he said.

It will be recalled that Akamba was in the news recently for exposing some serious challenges confronting the government’s free senior high school programme in the Upper East Region.

Akamba,  who is seeking to be elected as the substantive organizer of NDC, was seen in a video interacting with some students of the Tempane Senior High School on the challenges they were facing in their school.

A video footage of his interaction with of the students about how bedbugs and congestion in their schools were affecting the quality of the free senior high school programme and causing discomfort among students.

While he made the students show their bedbug bite scars to the cameras, he promised them their challenges would be over in 2020 if they vote out the NPP.
