Ghanaian artiste, Armstrong Affum, better known as Opanka, has expressed that despite currently residing in the US, he remains deeply connected to the issues happening in Ghana, particularly the ongoing Dumsor crisis.
In a conversation with Amansan Krakye, Opanka explained that his creation of the "Dumsor Demonstration" track was driven by his enduring ties to Ghana, emphasizing his plans to return.
He stated, "True leadership is about prioritizing the needs of those you lead. My commitment extends beyond personal interests to the welfare of the entire nation, which inspired the 'Dumsor Demonstration' song," he elaborated.
He continued, "I hold my Ghanaian citizenship close to heart and continue to consider it my home. My journey to the US was for a brief period, intended for a few performances and a project.
"My stay here is temporary, and I intend to resume my endeavors in Ghana. The challenges faced there resonate with me, as my roots and family are still entrenched in the country.
"The well-being of my family, supporters, and fellow Ghanaians weighs heavily on me. Personal comfort does not equate to happiness when my people are in distress."
