Head coach of the Black Satellites, Karim Zito says  that he had a better squad  this year than the one that won the U-20 WAFU Nations Cup in Mauritania in 2019.

He has however apologized to the people of Ghana for his team's failure to progress to the semi finals of the WAFU Zone B U-20 Nations Cup in Niger.

Ghana suffered defeats  to  Nigeria in their opening game and then lost to Burkina Faso 2-1 on Saturday as they exited the  tournament.

The  defending Champions will  not  take part in the African edition and the world edition of the U-20 tournament.

Speaking in an interview with Kumasi based Precise FM, he downplayed his team's failure saying that is not the first time it is happening.

“In the first place, if you are a student of the game, you will realize this is not the first time a defending champion is crashing out of a tournament in the group stage, It happened to Algeria,Italy and the likes.

He added that he led a similar team to glory last year but this year's squad was better than that one but  they failed to progress.

"Last two years by now, we were jubilating but this year that I think I have the best of squad than last year I couldn’t go anywhere."

"I have nothing to say but say I am sorry that I have disappointed you people so you should all forgive me and forgive the entire team. On behalf of the team I say we are genuinely sorry."

"But I want everyone to know that these are the teams I beat in Benin last two years.Nigeria was the first team I defeated and I defeated Burkina Faso to lift the trophy."

"I am now going to look at my preparation for the benefit of the GFA and future preferences to help whoever is in charge of the team the next time will take a clue from it" he concluded.
