Former Chelsea and Black Stars midfielder, Michael Essien has revealed that he never dreamed of becoming a coach whiles playing football.

The energetic midfielder had a successful career during his playing days playing for the likes of Chelsea, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Olympique Lyon and the likes.

Essien won almost every trophy in club football having won multiple English league titles, the Champions League, Europa League at Chelsea among others.

He now is an assistant coach at Danish elite side FC Nordsjaelland , and says as he reached the twilight of his career he felt the need to give back to the younger generation.

He made this revelation in an interview with Sports Magazine I.

“I never thought I would be a coach when I was playing,” says Essien.

“But I feel now I have a lot to give to the younger generation coming up, so I took the decision to learn more about being a coach and to explore this pathway,”he added.
