Ghana midfielder Michael Essien says he has not retired from football.

The former Chelsea star is clubless after his contract with Greek Club Panathiniakos was terminated.

The 32-year-old has also endured series of injuries which seemed to have halted his career.

Essien was heavily linked with Australian side Melbourn Victory but the fell through after the player failed to agree terms with the Club.

The midfielder insists he is still active.

“I am still active, I have been training to keep my fitness. I have not retired. I would definitely announce to everyone if I retire,” he said.

The former African footballer of the year contender is yet to secure himself a new Club.
