Former Black Stars striker and captain, Asamoah Gyan, has disclosed an intriguing revelation about his debut World Cup goal in 2006, stating that he had prophesied about it to his brother before the match.

Ghana made its first-ever FIFA World Cup appearance at the 2006 tournament in Germany, where Gyan left an indelible mark by scoring in Ghana's second game against the Czech Republic, following a defeat to Italy in their opening group match.

Gyan's goal, scored just one minute and eight seconds into the match, was the fastest of the tournament, securing a crucial 2-0 victory for Ghana alongside another goal from Sulley Muntari.

Reflecting on his remarkable achievement, Gyan revealed that he had a premonition of his World Cup goal and shared his prophecy with his brother, Baffour, before the game.

"I prophesied my first World Cup goal. I told my brother in our hotel room when he was leaving for Ghana that I feel I will score.

So, I told him to tell Ghanaians I will score. I saw it [before the game]," Gyan recounted.

Gyan's revelation offers a fascinating insight into the mindset of athletes and the role of intuition and belief in their performance on the field.

As Ghana's all-time leading goal scorer with 51 goals in 109 matches, Gyan's legacy extends beyond his achievements on the pitch, encompassing his ability to envision and manifest success.
