Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng has disclosed that he thought of leaving the Bavarians but was forced to reconsider his decision due to the support of coach Hansi Flick.

The German born Ghanaian International was a bit part player under Nico Kovac and was almost on the brink of leaving the team before the Croatian was replaced by caretaker boss Hansi Flick.

He says there were lots of offers from many big clubs in Europe but decided to stay on at Bayern due to Hansi Flick.

Speaking in an interview with Bild, the former Hertha BSC player eulogized coach Hans Flick and revealed why he opted to stay at the club.

“It was for him that I stayed in January. Flick showed me his confidence, I never wanted anything else. I’m happy to be able to give it back. Flick is a clear person, he doesn’t cheat on you. But in return, he asks for a lot. He doesn’t mince words and tells you what you need to work on. He changed this team,” he said

The German stayed put at Bayern Munich helping the club win a treble including the Uefa Champions league and all domestic cups in Germany.

He is contracted to Bayern Munich until 2021.
