Following his public endorsement of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which has stirred significant online discussion, Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD) has continued to challenge expectations in the quest to rally support for his party during the 2024 election campaign.

In his push to garner more backing for the NDC, KOD has expressed profound disappointment with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), a party he once held in high regard.

KOD, who had previously supported the NPP and voted for them in the past election said he had high hopes that the party could advance the country even further than the era of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

Reflecting on his past support in an interview with CitiFM's Bernard Avle, KOD remarked, “I had the chance to hear him discuss his plans for the creative sector and the orange economy. I genuinely believed he would perform well... Yes, I supported him,” he noted.

He added, “With strong conviction, I thought if anyone was going to elevate this country beyond the level set by Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, it would have been Nana Akufo-Addo.”

The Shift

In a September 2023 interview, KOD announced his shift from supporting the NPP to backing the opposition NDC, citing unfulfilled promises by the current government.

This change in allegiance was not well received by many of his acquaintances. In a Facebook post on July 20, KOD noted that some people have distanced themselves from him due to his new political stance, though he respects their decisions.

KOD underscored his right to make his own choices, including his political opinions, and voiced frustration at attempts to influence his beliefs.
